Sammy Winward took part in celebrity talent show Soapstar Superstar in 2006.

In March 2006, she appeared on the Orange Playlist. Here she explained that she was training to be a ballerina before being picked by her agent Ruth Young to attend the Emmerdale audition.
In December 2007 , Sammy Winward discussed her plans for a long-term modeling career, and her intentions to leave Emmerdale on a 12 month hiatus. She did not state when this break would happen.

Winward was voted number 73 in FHM's 2006 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll.
